How do you paint over textured paint?

In my bathroom, I have this sparkly purple textured paint and the texture is like sandyish-type texture. I want to repaint in there with a regular paint, but i want the wall to be like a regular wall, no texture. Help please! How do you paint over textured paint?
You can skim coat it with wall compound and some trowels. Quik-set is better but requires mixing etc.

More easy and less dusty , there are some paints made for filling in cement block one of these might do the job.

These are primers so once you are done and satisfied witht he results you can , after curing (a day) apply your top coats. In a bathroom, particularly , you don't want to put to heavy of coat of anything on the walls. It is better to do thin coats and let each one dry to manufacture's recommendation before adding the next coat.

Treat any signs of mildew before doing anything else. a 25% bleach to water solution will kill it in minutes. It has to be rinsed off before painting though as it is too alkaline for painting. How do you paint over textured paint?
idk if this would work just puttin it out there but you could maybe sand off the texture idk. it might work.
You need to strip the texture off. Sorry but it can be a messy job.
