Can I get a skip trowel look with just paint, and no texture?

I already have dark brown formals, and I would really like it to look like a skip trowel texture. However, this home is not in an expensive neighborhood, and I don't think it will go over well for resale. If that's the case, I don't want a texture on the wall that I will have to smooth out, I would rather just Kilz the room as a blank slate. Any help would be appreciated!Can I get a skip trowel look with just paint, and no texture?
You're right. If you're going to sell it in the near future do the Kilz and paint it a nice color like sand or tan.
