Can you paint over a textured wall?

There is this awesome house we want to buy. all the walls are textured... i'm not sure what its called, but its like little bumps. popcorn maybe? anyway, its like this peachy/pink color and i would def want to paint it a different color. how would i do this? can i just paint over it?Can you paint over a textured wall?
For textured walls yes. There are rollers made just for textured walls that work really well. You have to first paint in different directions to get all the cracks and then paint in the same direction so it looks nice. However if it's popcorn ceilings we are talking about, painting those doesn't work. Good luck with your new house! Can you paint over a textured wall?
If it is a sprayed on texture you can probably remove it with water and a scraper. But it will be a big mess. And you may need to make repairs to the walls underneath.

If it is a plaster texture then you just need to paint with a roller.

But if you are serious about the house, take the time to go back and make sure you want to tackle the job. Asked the sellers how they last painted those walls.
Hey Baby Colton!!! Born on my birthday!! Sounds like the orange peel finish they put on walls. Just get a thicker nap for the roller. Someone at a home improvement store should be able to help you get what you need. Roxanne
it doesnt matter what the texture is .yes, just paint the walls what ever color you want.
You can paint over a textured wall. its like any other wall just with little bumps.
