How can you bring about changes in texture while using acrylic paints?

i always end up with a uniform texture with only variations in the shade of color...How can you bring about changes in texture while using acrylic paints?
There are special mediums you can use to thicken the paint. Go to www.cheapoes.com or www.dickblick.com to get info on these. Modeling paste, heavy gel mediums, Fiber Paste, Coarse Crackle Paste, Coarse Pumice Paste, Clear Granular Gel,Coarse Garnet Gel. Some artists put a bit of sand in the paint. You can even press a screen into the paint or bubble wrap to create texture. How can you bring about changes in texture while using acrylic paints?
The easiest choice is to apply the paint in non-uniform thicknesses. Apply the paint thickly.

You can also do an underpainting with another media, such as modeling paste. You could even create a collage of different media (paper, found objects, etc.) for your underpainting.
Hi Gabbybab,..Try using ';different'; tools, to apply the paint, such as a pallet knife, or brushes with very stiff brisles,..Also try putting the paint on thick, %26amp; keep on working it with your brush,..WHILE it is drying,..
