How do you paint popcorn textured ceiling?

our house has textured popcorn ceiling and we can't remove it because it's a messy job+we have a little baby, sooo how do you paint it and with what? will it look bad?

thank youHow do you paint popcorn textured ceiling?
the only way to effectively paint this type of ceiling would be to spray the paint on as opposed to using rollers or brushes......good luck to you.....i have those ceilings all over my home and was hoping to find an easy way to get rid of them! How do you paint popcorn textured ceiling?
I just wanted to point out that once you paint your ceiling, if you decide to remove the popcorn finish it will be even harder to remove. So if you plan to remove the popcorn in the future I wouldn't suggest painting.
just finished painting an old ceiling with popcorn. To touch it, it seemed flaky and would probably fall off, but I used a long nap paint roller and it worked wonderful. The texture did not come off. Be sure and put plenty of paint on your roller, and not try to dry roll it to save paint. I think the moisture of the paint helped.
We painted ours with regular latex ceiling paint. Make sure you buy a good brand like Benjamin Moore. If the celing needs two coats be sure to wait until the first coat is thoroughly dry before applying the second coat. That's where we got in trouble we didn't wait long enough and the second coat of paint pulled down some of the popcorn when we were painting. Also, if the area is covered don't go over and over the same spot. It can be tricky, but it can be done. We did all our ceilings and only had trouble with one room because we were impatient. Good Luck
Spray painting is the easiest way

You can also use a roller with a deep nap go to the paint store and ask them for this type roller

Taking popcorn off is very messy but can done with patience

I have done this for many of my clients but the easiest thing is to use 1/4 inch drywall over it. It will not lower ceiling and will be the easiest and the least mess. If you are handy you can do it or hire someone and it will not take long then paint and enjoy.
it is very hard realy hire some one it is the best thing to do to save you pulling your hair out

.
Home Depo has special rollers with a fluffy nap that you can buy to do it with. There is also a ceiling paint that is like a primer/paint mixed that goes on pink %26amp; dries white so you make sure you don't miss anything. Just got finished w/ one. Good Luck
with a long nap roller or even a wisk broom wwhich is kinda messy. but if you use the longest nap roller it should work just fine if you want to add more texture you can buy a texture additive to put in your paint. some hardware store carry texture roller skins which work great. good luck and happy painting.
you cant you have to buy a paint scraper and scrape the cieling and then paint it or buy paint rollers and poles to paint it.
The only way I know of painting it is also a mess and that is by spraying the paint on.
