How do you paint over brass to change the color and texture?

Bought some metallic paint at JoAnn Fabric to try to spray paint over brass and wood ceiling fan to make it brushed nickel.





WORKED GREAT!!!





Cannot tell that it isn't a new brushed nickel fan.How do you paint over brass to change the color and texture?
There is a great new paint by Rustoleum designed for painting over metal. You should use the primer, first however, it gives the metal the tooth for the paint to adhere. You can use a product called Hammerite, to change the texture, but I really don't recommend it if the application is for outdoor use. It is fine for metals not exposed to the elements, but performance is poor in my experience in outdoor applications.How do you paint over brass to change the color and texture?
you need to rough sand the brass lightly for the paint to adhere.
