How do you remove texture paint from brick??

In the basement of my house, theres a single wall that had texture paint on it. I began removing it and some of it just slid right off with a spackle knife. The rest is on there really good. How do I go about getting it off??How do you remove texture paint from brick??
I would rent a sand blaster seems like a bit of over kill but it really will do the trick, I work for a school and we had some graffiti on brick walls and they came out very nice...we sealed them after wards with a water sealer to help any other creative drawings from sticking

You may think so but go ahead and put paint remover on a highly porous surface!! Take that soft mushy paint and push it in real good with all that elbow grease!!! You think sand is bad try the fumes and the gloppy mess you 2 are suggesting...Oh boy

At lease it's dry and clean and manageable. A wet, slimy, gloppy mess that you 2 are suggesting will need loads of water to rinse ';Down the drain'; won't clog any pipes? Sand causes less health problems it's sand not permeating fumes

We had problems in the boys locker room, we had NO problems with drainage of coarse we knew how to use a broom and a shop vac too. With a little fore thought and planning it's doable, once you quish it in it's almost impossible. Lets not even consider the time you all have commited this person too.How do you remove texture paint from brick??
Steve has the answer..try a paint stripper..or pure muscle..do not use a sandblaster..how ridiculous...You will have a house that looks like the Sahara desert!
PAT T are you kidding? a sand blaster in a residential basement. Quinn c do not listen to Pat T ,you will have sand grit in your house years after you have swept up for the umpteenth time. clogged drain traps in the basement floor and premature furnace failure. Try using peel away paint remover. and lots of patience, elbow grease, and coffee breaks. as a painter i can tell you there is no one way or easy way to remove paint.
