How do you remove texture (paint) from a wall?

If the wall has high quality paint on it, it will be very difficult to sand. It will be easier to apply joint compound(sheetrock mud) over it with a 10';- 12'; trowel and then sand it smooth. If it is very rough, it may take 2- 3 coats. If it has glossy paint on it, scuff it with sandpaper or a wire brush to ensure good adheasion, and if it is very rough, scrape it first to remove what you can.How do you remove texture (paint) from a wall?
