Which paint texture to use for walls?

A friend of mine always uses a matt finish on walls, claiming it to be the best, both in terms of hiding any imperfections and it's durability.

I've always used a low sheen, thinking it has better qualities to keep clean.

As I'm currently renovating and about to paint through an entire house, I'd be grateful for some advise.

Flat or Matte finishes hide imperfections well and touch-up the best. Low-sheen (Eggshell or Satin) are more durable and washable, but can accentuate imperfections and don't touch-up as well. Semi-Gloss is the worst for hide and touch-up, but is the most durable.

Consider you situation when choosing sheen. Where is the paint being used?

Bedroom? Flat, Matte or Eggshell.

Hallway? Eggshell or Satin

Kids room? Eggshell or Satin

Trim? Satin or Semi-gloss

High traffic areas should be more than Flat for durability.Which paint texture to use for walls?
i like an eggshell or semi-gloss. its easier to clean but it does show imperfections. your decision on wut you want to end up with. good luck.
