The first three answers ahead of this one are correct. However, let me give you some things to think about. Are you going to re-sell this home at some point in time? If you are, the textured walls will not be a re-selling point. Some people just don't like this sort of thing. Did you ever think of Faux painting the wall? You paint the wall a light color and then let it dry. Then you dip a sponge in a darker color and sponge (or you can use a crumpled up plastic bag) and sponge this color on the wall. It gives a similar effect without the heavy texture, and it can always be painted over by the next owner. Just a thought. Can i use TEXTURED PAINT on interior of home?
The joint compound premixed and a sponge roller or mop-like roller on the paint roller handle works fine and fast. Put the ';mud'; as it is called in the paint pan and roll the roller in it as you would paint. Roll it on the wall. Wait about 15 minutes and come back with a wide (12'; to 18'; sheet rock bladed handle) flat tool and smooth out the peaks. Let dry 24 hours and paint. Don't clean roller, put in freezer for another day.
It is harder than you think. Have you considered using drywall compound? 5 gallons will cost under $15.00 and do several rooms. Then you need to paint over this but it is easier and cheaper than texture paint. A good hardware or paint store will be able to assist. If not you will need a 9 inch cement trowel . Then apply compound to wall in a semi circular Motion. A small amount at a time until you get the idea. This is hard but easier than texture paint
yes there is many types of texture for walls and ceiling you can different roller nap that apply texture you might need to visit home depot or lowes to get an idea of what you like you can buy a piece drywall cut it up then try using different medium on each piece hold it up to the wall and have fun or once you pick it out call a painter and tell him what you want
